SCHOOLS AND YOUTH GROUPS

Career Development Programmes

We offer comprehensive career development programmes delivered in schools or community settings. We turn the the advice model on it's head and support girls to develop skills to make their own choices and provide access to real world information, role models and opportunities to ensure those choices are informed choices.

The programmes meet the requirements of the Careers Education Framework, as well as the Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) Framework, and builds on the skills developed through SEAL.

The full programmes follow the following format:

1. Workshops using a coaching approach to develop self knowledge, self belief and emotional resilience. Through group work the girls will also learn key employability skills including good communication, team working and collaboration skills.

2. Workshops on real world information on different industries, careers and associated lifestyles and pay ranges. They will also learn about specific issues relating to women in the workplace. The girls also develop good research skills and learn about career management skills.

3. Action planning sessions where the girls develop personal action plans to take their own learning about careers forward. They also identify a Champion in their own life to support them to take the plan forward, or we can match them with an external Champion.

4. Planning sessions to put on a career fair for the wider school or youth work community. The girls will learn project management, team work, networking and planning skills. The fair can be for girls and boys and will showcase different types of employers and career choices.

5. Ignite will then help the girls access opportunties such as shadowing and work experience based on the goals in their action plans.

6. Follow on evaluation - Ignite would like to know the impact the programme has had on the girls and will conduct a session 6 months on to see how the girls have progressed.

Schools: We reccomend the programme for year nine, when students are making educational choices which affect their future. We can also offer a comprehensive career service for the whole school, particularly appealing for all girls schools.

Sixth Form: Programmes can be tailored to suit the needs of the young women.

Youth Work Settings: Our programmes can be delivered in any youth work setting and adapted to meet the needs of your group. We are particularly keen to work with young women not in education, training or employment and young mothers.

After School Clubs and Summer Programmes: The programme can be adpated to work in different settings and can be offered in an intensive format over a summer period.

Bespoke Offerings for Young Women

Ignite can provide all the service we offer for courses for individuals within an organisation for an existing group of young women. We can also provide bespoke courses and consultancy for young women.

For example, we have delivered confidence building workshops for young women in the National Union of Students and Project Management training for Elevation Enterprise's Visible Women Campaign.
